Special Thanks to IRONJEN's Team

The road to Ironman is a long one. One not easily traveled alone. Along the way Jen has had the good fortune of working with some terrific people-despite the misfortune that brought her to them. A special thank you goes to those that have worked with, and continue to work with Jen to help her achieve her goals.

Training BibleTriathlon and endurance sports in general require alot of discipline. But discipline alone cannot help you achieve your goals. Having reached a plateau in her performance, and struggling to recover from a significant illness, Jen enlisted the help of Training Bible Coaching. Since the fall of 2006, Jen has been working with Coach Carla Hastert. Carla is a level 2 USAT coach and a certified personal trainer. Additionally she is a Delnor Masters swim coaches in Geneva, IL. An active triathlete herself, Carla is a qualifier for both short and long distance nationals and holds several age group wins. If you are in need of coaching services, consider Training Bible Coaching Midwest.

Olympic ChiropracticThe demands of a strict training regimen require take a toll on one's body. Regular chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy and core training are essential elements in Jen's program. The team of occupation healthcare professionals at Olympic Chiropractic deserve a special thanks for keeping Jen "in line". Especially Dr. Mike! If you are in need of chiropractic care consider Olympic. Their enthusiastic approach and genuine care for their patients is second to none!

Multisport MadnessIt is said that to be successful, you should associate yourself with successful people. In triathlon, that's Multisport Madness. MSM is a club made up of highly motivated endurance athletes.

All around, a great group of people who share a love for an athletic lifestyle. They have been a great source of inspiration and support for Jen throughout the season. If you are looking to be a part of a great team of athletes, be sure to check out MSM.

TriChicTriathlon can be pretty intimidating. One of the ways to get over some of those fears is to meet and talk shop with others like you. Before the local camaraderie MSM, Jen became a member of TriChic, an online community of woman dedicated to promoting the sport and making more accessible to all female triathletes. This encouraging group of woman offers Jen the opportunity to meet other female age groupers just like her. Especially at the traveling summer camps! Special thanks to Coach Lizzy and Brenda! In addition to MSM, Jen continues to be an active member of the TriChic community.

(Speaking of intimidation, if you've never seen the spoof about training for a triathlon on YouTube, you've got to check it out!)

The Bike ShopThere is more to a bike fit, than just eyeballing one's stand-over height. Don't take it for granted. The way you fit/sit on your bike can greatly effect your performance and health. The guys at The Bike Shop in Glen Ellyn are awesome--and patient. Whether you are looking for a complete bicycle, individual parts or a professional fitting, The Bike Shop is the place to be. Their store also offers the latest in apparel and wetsuits as well as clinics for triathletes. Jen especially enjoys the group Computrainer rides when the weather doesn't cooperate. Don't settle for an off-the-rack bike and fit. Go to the pros. Ask for Chris, and tell him Jen sent you.

Midwest OrthopaedicsSpecialties are popular in our household. If you've read Jen's bio, you'd understand that she is a complex person. When Jen developed an acute abdominal pain that no one could diagnose, she turned to Dr. Kathleen Weber, Director of Women's Sports Medicine at RUSH University Medical Center and team physician for the Chicago White Sox.

AthleticoDr. Weber quickly diagnosed the problem and worked closely with their partner AthletiCo, a provider of outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation to put together an ideal treatment program.
